Narrative Medicine Workshop*
Feb. 15th @7:30pm in the main conference hall at The Dana on Mission Bay
Includes pizza & beverages (non-alcohol)
We come to the San Diego Pain Summit to learn about pain science, with the goal of delivering high-value, evidence-based and human-centered pain care. In that learning, we are pushed to critique the research, the treatment methods we use, and the philosophies of care we practice.
As we strive to do better for others, we also critique ourselves and our path of learning and professional development.
In the work of caring for others, and hearing their stories, it's easy to forget that our stories matter too. Here's your chance to step back and reflect on your hero's journey, while practicing the signature method of narrative medicine, close reading.
In this 90 minute narrative medicine workshop, Lissanthea Taylor and Julia Traylor will lead you through a close reading of a written text to sharpen your focus on your story. The text will be revealed in the workshop, there's no need to prepare ahead. A reflective writing exercise will give you a chance to get your story on paper, and sharing that story (if you choose to) gives others the opportunity to witness the journey you've taken and to celebrate it.
*This workshop is not included in the Full Week Experience
